Clinical governance processes

External independent governance

ICS Diagnostics engages with an independent Clinical Advisory Board comprising of experienced consultant cardiologists, imaging consultants and senior chief cardiac physiologists to ensure up-to-date clinical guidance on our services. The Clinical Advisory Board is tasked with reviewing our clinical quality, event reports, quality audits and processes, before offering feedback to the ICS Diagnostics Governance Panel. The Clinical Advisory Board meets on a quarterly basis.

We maintain our Care Quality Commission registration by ensuring that we are compliant on all regulatory requirements.

Internal governance specific to ICS Diagnostics’ echocardiography

ICS Diagnostics audits 40% of all echocardiograms to meet the highest industry standards. We undertake blind over reading of selected studies, as recommended by the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE). Further, we carry out secondary review for all echocardiograms, where ambiguous or where significant pathology has been identified.

All echocardiographers undergo bi-annual internal peer reviews. We have a strong focus on continuous learning and support staff to maintain their professional accreditation as well and mandatory training requirements. We ensure best practice by providing our echocardiographers with a detailed induction programme, clinical supervision and yearly appraisals, which form part of our performance management process.

ICS Group framework for continuous quality improvement

Quality audits are undertaken which provide a framework for continuous improvement. The findings from these audits are used to support learning and development and improve the clinical service we provide. Quality Audit findings are reported to ICS Group board members who are fully committed to achieving excellence in everything that we do. The provision of these reports form part of our Service Level Agreement with customers.
