Meet Dennis, our new Head of Echocardiography

Monday, November 11, 2019

We spoke with Dennis to learn more about his career experience, what excites him about ICS Diagnostics and his project priorities for the future.

Give us an overview of your professional experience?

I have been involved in Clinical Cardiology diagnostics and physiology since 1992, with 25 years echocardiography experience. I completed my post-grad teaching degree in 1999, and in 2007 I completed my Executive MBA to focus on business development and commercialisation within healthcare. My clinical interests outside of cardiology revolve mainly around oncology trials which remain of great importance to me. My career over the last decade led to me introducing SaaS/IaaS to the UK healthcare market, establishing the largest clinical user group of a cloud-based Cardiology PACS in the UK with more than 4000 users.

What excites you about the ICS Diagnostics opportunity?

In a dynamic organisation such as ICS Diagnostics, the opportunity lies in being part of an agile provider of clinical services and the ability to put in place quality systems aligned closely with professional society guidelines from the start. Hence creating a clinically focused culture where learning becomes part of the daily routine for the healthcare professional, to the ultimate benefit of the patient.

What’s the most rewarding part of what you do?

Developing and supporting healthcare professionals to fully realise their potential.

What do you believe differentiates ICS Diagnostics from its competitors?

Great support from the operational team who are willing to go the extra mile behind the scenes to make the team’s working life as uncomplicated as possible (This is harder than even I thought!). Also our nationwide network!

What are the biggest priorities/projects you want to tackle in your first few months in post?

I would like to throw as much energy and effort as possible into setting up our Echo Quality Framework and aligning this as much as possible with the fantastic work already done by the British Society of Echocardiography, working closely with the BSE on this.

Lastly – what’s one thing that people don’t know about you

I am a qualified artisan furniture maker.
